Diversity

Our staff, like our student population is diverse. We maintain a diversity-conscience school system that offers a multicultural, bilingual environment with potential for professional and personal growth.

With a population of 67,088 in Union City, we are the most densely populated city in New Jersey. Among those living in Union City, 59% of our residents were born outside of the United States. Past studies have indicated that our schools’ population is 94.5% Latino/a, 3.5% White, 1.1% Asian, and 0.9% Black. The students who attend the public schools reflect the families who live here.

Their unique characteristics guide the District towards diversity-conscience educational content, staff, and support. Programs that meet the needs of Union City’s children and youth – such as bilingual programs and nutritional programs are imperative.
